  • Tera Santa Consortium tests 1-Tbps optical transmission via OFDM

    Members of the Tera Santa Consortium, an initiative of the Israeli Chief Scientist Office in the Ministry of Economy, has demonstrated the use of optical orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) to transmit a non-regenerated 1-Tbps superchannel over the Deutsches Forschungsnetz e.V. (DFN-Verein) German research fiber-optic network.

  • Ciena tests 200G via 16-QAM with Japan-U.S. Cable Network

    Optical transport systems vendor Ciena Corp. (NYSE: CIEN) says it has complemented its terrestrial trials of 200-Gbps optical transmission via 16-QAM with an undersea cable network test. The company partnered with the Japan-U.S. Cable Network to transmit 200G signals over a 630-km submarine network segment along the U.S. West Coast.
